Digital Camera Scavenger Hunt

Hey everyone! Just a reminder that this Saturday (April 26th) is the Digital Camera Scavenger Hunt. Meet at the church at 1:30 or meet us at Rock Bridge State Park at 2. We will have a list of things to find and we'll break off into groups to find everything on the list. After the scavenger hunt, we'll grill and play some games there. Pick up is at 6 at the park or 6:30 at church. There will be a lot of walking involved, so tennis shoes would probably be a good idea. The weather is supposed to be nice on Saturday, but check again Saturday morning to see if it's going to rain. We'll see you all on Saturday!!

Here are James and Charlie picking up some trash in Devil's Icebox!

Painting

Hey everyone!! I know this is short notice, but we need everyone's help this weekend. We're going to help Scott's family out by painting their old house. We are meeting at the church at 8 AM Saturday morning and will paint until it is finished! Liz will be bringing some pizza for lunch so you don't need to worry about that. Even if you only have a couple hours, or just one, we could really use your help! If you can't meet at the church, give one of us a call and we can direct you to Scott's house. Wear your painting clothes and we'll see you Saturday morning!!

St. Louis Road Trip

I didn't have very many pictures from this weekend, but here are a few!

Here's a picture of the whole group at City Museum!

This is when we were torturing Charlie and Scott by making them come into Baby Gap with us.

The lovely "castle" Nate made from the cheeseburger boxes.

And the boys with their White Castles (all 30 of them!)

We had an awesome time and I hope you guys did too! Check back soon for more info on the Service/Ski Trip on February 23rd. Have a good week everyone!!

Road Trip Info

Hey everyone! It will probably be freezing on the bus tomorrow, so wear warm clothes! A blanket probably wouldn't be a bad idea, also. Liz will be driving her van, in addition to the bus, so there will be somewhere to lock your belongings up. So, feel free to bring iPods, DVD players, etc. to keep yourselves entertained on the bus! See you all at 7:45 tomorrow morning!

ROAD TRIP!!!!!!

Hey everyone!! Who's ready for the road trip? (Don't you wish our bus looked like this one?) We'll be taking the bus on the road trip on Saturday, January 19th. Meet at the church at 7:45 and we will be heading to St. Louis. We'll start the day at the St. Louis City Museum then go to The Galleria for some shopping! Bring money for lunch and dinner on the road. The city museum costs $5 so bring money for that and any money for shopping in the afternoon. We'll be back at the church late Saturday night. This is a great event to invite friends to. Since we're going out of town, we need signed permission slips for anyone that's planning on going. You can pick one up at church or we can e-mail one to you. The website for the City Museum is http://www.citymuseum.org/home.asp if you want to check it out. Let Josh know if you're coming because we need a rough head count. Hope everyone can make it!

Christmas and New Year's Pictures

Hey everyone! Here are some pictures from the Christmas and New Year's parties. Thanks to everyone who came and who helped out.
Here's everyone playing the present game. This was such an entertaining game!

The whole herd right before we left.

All the pillows everyone brought. This was such an awesome opportunity to give to other people for Christmas and you all did an awesome job!

Everyone sitting around just hanging out.

Here we are playing the humming Christmas carols game. This was also a fun one to watch!

More of the present game.

Then here's a couple from the New Year's party. It was dark in the skating rink, so it was hard to take pictures.

Here are some pictures of James pushing Greg around. The guys at Empire were so awesome and got a wheelchair so Greg could skate with us. Thanks again for coming and look for your newsletter coming soon!!

Youth Christmas Party

Hey guys! Hope you're all making it through finals this week! Just wanted to remind you all that the Christmas party is this Thursday night. We will meet at the Hart's house (directions below) at 6:30 or at the church at 6 if you want to ride the van over. This year, everyone should bring either a pillow or a twin-size mattress pad. We are donating the pillows and mattress pads to Rainbow House. This is an on-going need and we decided to give back a little bit this year. In addition to the pillow or mattress pad, bring a $1 to $2 gift for a gift exchange. Be creative!! There will be lots of good food and games, as usual! See you all there!!!
Directions to the Hart's:
From the Midway Truck Stop: Take "UU" south (past Gillespie Bridge) to the intersection of Route "O" - turn LEFT. Take Route O south for 1.55 miles to Terrapin Hills Road - turn RIGHT. At the top of the hill, turn LEFT on Foxglove Lane. The house is the second on the left - 3920 Foxglove. OR take Gillespie Bridge to UU, turn left and follow directions above.

New Year's Party

Hey all! Hope everyone is staying safe in the ice!

We have decided to go roller-skating for the Youth New Year's Party. We will be going roller skating and then we will be back to church in time for the Watch Night Service at 11:30. If we get 25 people to come, we can reserve the rink for a private party and we will start skating t 8. If we don't get 25 people, then we will go at 9:30 when the rink is opened to the public. Cost is about $10 per person. We are trying to get a head count for that night! If you could just let one of us know if you're coming then that would be great! See you all at youth!

Halloween Party Pictures

Hey everyone! Here are some pictures from the Halloween Party a couple weeks ago.

We discovered that the traditional games like bobbing for apples is still fun!

Josh had the technique down pat, take the apple all the way to the bottom of the barrel.

Another traditional game, toilet paper mummies!

Keep checking back to see what's new and exciting with the youth group! Our next event is a Youth Service Day sometime soon. Don't forget that this will probably be mandatory for the Missions Team! See you all at youth on Sundays!

Providence Bowl

Congratulations everyone!! We made the $1000 we needed to for our October event. We actually raised $1200, so we are officially overachievers! We are going to the Providence Bowl on October 12th and then having a lock-in at the church after the game. We will be cheering on our fellow youth (Nate and Jordyn) during the game. For those of you that remember it from last year, it's a great time. We do not have an individual winner yet, but we will announce that after we add everything up. We also don't know for sure what the prize is going to be for the winner, but that will also be announced soon. Have a great rest of the week guys and we'll see you at youth!

Fish Fry

As I'm sure you all know, the annual Fish Fry is coming up in a week from Saturday! There's still lots for everyone to do!

Youth Silent Auction Basket: We are doing a family camping trip basket this year, so we're asking for anything related to camping! There's a lot of stuff on sale right now, so it shouldn't be hard to find something. If you don't want to go shopping, you can just give Josh some money and he will go buy stuff. We would like to have all the money and items by this Sunday (Sept. 9th), but we absolutely need everything by next Wednesday (Sept. 12th). So get to shopping!!

Kids' Games: The youth group is in charge of watching the kids' games and most of you signed up for an hour. If you haven't signed up, we can always use some help, so just head on over to the kids' games when you get there. If you did sign up, don't forget to come work! Everyone that signed up should be getting a reminder of what time they signed up for.

Raffle Tickets: The main youth thing for the Fish Fry is selling raffle tickets! If we sell $1000 in tickets, we will have an event in October. But if we don't sell that much, there will not be any events in October! If we meet our goal (which we have the past two years) we will either go to the Hickman/Rock Bridge football game on October 12th or the Mizzou game on October 27th. I know we haven't sold very many tickets yet, so, get out there and sell raffle tickets! Remember, all the money from the Fish Fry goes towards the new building fund and when we get a new sanctuary, we get a real youth room!

Everyone have fun at school and keep selling raffle tickets!! Also, a reminder for the World Changers...we will not be meeting in September, but we will meet the last Sunday in October.

Rescue Mission at The Edge

Here we are starting off carrying Jordyn in the gurney. I think we started off pretty good!
A little later in the mission...we're trying to decide how to get the blind people over and still carry Jordyn.Someone's (Either James or Alex, I'm not sure which) great idea to put the blanket under the gurney so technically, the gurney wasn't touching the telephone pole. Great idea guys!
At the end, after running out of time. Even if we did run out of time, we still learned a lot about working as a team! If we ever go back, we know what we need to do!

The Guys Low Ropes at The EDGE

The guys on the Skateboard. Poor blind Charlie probably didn't know what in the world was going on!
We're finished!!! The guys after finishing Mountain Tops.
Sam crowd surfing in the Spider Web challenge. Both guys and girls did great on this one!
Josh doing the Trust Fall. Way to go guys...you caught the old guy! I think this is the one the girls were really bummed they didn't get to do!
The guys doing the puzzle game. Josh is looking a little crazy but hey, he was blindfolded; he couldn't help it!

Check back for some pictures from the Rescue Mission!
