Congrats to the Youth!!

Congratulations!! The youth group raised over $1,100 in raffle tickets at the Fish Fry! Meaning...it stinks to be the youth leaders because now we're shaving their legs!!! It's kind of hard to see, but Josh has by far the hariest legs. And all three of the boys are very excited to have their legs shaved on October 13th, following the Hickman vs. Rock Bridge football game at Faurot Field. We're going to tailgate before the game and then have a lock-in Friday night. This is a huge accomplishment and all the money will go towards the new building. Yeah!!

I included some other pictures from the dodgeball-type game the other night. In the second picture, Jason is modeling a lovely off-the-shoulder top that is all the rage in men's fashion. Keep in mind this was designed by a man also, although we won't name names because he's new and we don't want to scare him away. (But Jason we're not worried about!) Keep checking back for an October Events posting coming soon! And please let us know what you think about the blog!! Talk to one of the youth leaders if you have suggestions or have anything to say about it!! Posted by Picasa

Apple Picking

Here are the pictures from the apple-picking! Thanks to everyone who helped out, we had a great time! Even if Josh was puking the whole time while the rest of us (including Clara) were picking apples. The people there told us we picked the most apples this year out of any group!! Go us!! Poor J.T. his second event as a youth, and Josh is already strangling him!! Apparently by the time the group picture was taken, James was ready to go home (check out the face!). We were all a little tired, don't feel bad James! Even if we did wear ourselves out, we still had a great time! Clara was the best source of entertainment I think while walking around saying "Apple, Apple!" and throwing dirt in her hair! We had a great time playing jumbo badmiton and just hanging around together when we got back to church! Even if the girls got their rears kicked in kickball against the boys (18 to 1-props to Liz for getting our only run!) one of these days, we'll beat those boys! Thanks again to everyone who came out to help the Food Bank! And for the rest of you, we'll get you next time! Posted by Picasa

September Events

Alrighty, here's the beginning of, hopefully, an up-to-date blog! I'll post the events at the beginning of every month and then other posts throughout the month. And we'll probably have a question of the week from Josh, but we'll see how it goes. Well, here goes...

Apple Picking: September 9th we are going to pick apples in New Franklin for the Central Missouri Food Bank. Meet at the church at 1:00 and afterwards, we'll head back to the church for food (hot dogs, s'mores, etc) and games. This is an awesome opportunity guys to really help the Food Bank, plus we already know that we won't have to package hot dogs (YEAH!!!)

Money/Stuff for the Basket: The youth group is putting together a basket to sell in the silent auction at the Fish Fry. Our theme is a family night, so bring food, soda, games, movies...whatever your family does for a family night, or you can just bring money and we'll go out and buy whatever else we need. Please have money and/or stuff by this Sunday night (September 10th).

Fish Fry: The Fish Fry is September 16th and the youth are in charge of volunteering for working with the kids games. If you show up and aren't signed up, we will put you somewhere!! It's all-you-can-eat fish and chicken with the fixins! There is also a petting zoo, a silent auction, a raffle (a shotgun, half a beef, $200 gift certificate to the mall, and a $200 gas gift certificate to Little General), a country store, live music, and a live auction.

Raffle Tickets: Don't forget to keep selling raffle tickets!! If the youth raise $500, we'll get a lock-in where we will shave Josh's legs following the Hickman vs. Rock Bridge football game in November. Plus for every $200 more, we will shave a youth leader's legs (you pick, James, Charlie, or Justin)! Keep selling, and remember that this is all to raise money for the new building that we'll get someday!!

See Josh if you want to be part of a student leadership program for the youth group!! We want to get everyone more involved to help in anything (like this blog, or welcoming new kids to the group, etc.) See Josh and he'll have an idea for you, or maybe think of your own!!

That's all for this month, as you can see, it's a pretty busy one! Look back for pictures from all of these events!!
