The Guys Low Ropes at The EDGE

The guys on the Skateboard. Poor blind Charlie probably didn't know what in the world was going on!
We're finished!!! The guys after finishing Mountain Tops.
Sam crowd surfing in the Spider Web challenge. Both guys and girls did great on this one!
Josh doing the Trust Fall. Way to go guys...you caught the old guy! I think this is the one the girls were really bummed they didn't get to do!
The guys doing the puzzle game. Josh is looking a little crazy but hey, he was blindfolded; he couldn't help it!

Check back for some pictures from the Rescue Mission!

The Girls Low Ropes at The EDGE

Our first big challenge was Mountain Tops. After spending lots of time on this, we finally made it!!
Our next event was Aqua Shoes. This one was fun...unless of course you were blindfolded and had to turn around!
I think this was the hardest event for the girls! But our leaders kept telling us that eight Army guys did it, so we could definitely do it! We finally made it after two hints and lots of time.
We did the Skateboard and we decided to take a different approach than the boys. We decided to climb over each other after watching the boys struggle on this one!
This one took us the longest and was the most strenuous! We were all shaking and had sweat dripping down us by the end of it!

I know the girls group was very successful in breaking down barriers and really becoming a team! Good job girls!

Float Trip

Alrighty...the float trip is coming up in just a week and a half! We will be leaving church at 5:00 PM on Friday July 20th. We will be coming back late Saturday. The cost is only $30, but if you want to go but don't have $30 to spare, just talk to Josh and he will find a way for you to go! We don't want anyone not going because of the money. You will also need to bring money for dinner on the way there and on the way back. We are heading to Meramec State Park this year. There are caves and lots of fun stuff to do! (I tried to get some pictures, but they were all copyrighted...just type Meramec State Park into Google and you can find some really cool pictures!)

Be sure to invite your friends to this because everyone loves float trips! We will be camping so bring a sleeping bag and a tent if you have one. Let Josh know if you're planning on coming. You can also just leave a comment on here to let us know! Just be sure you leave your name so we know who you are.

Just a reminder that Vacation Bible School is the week after the float trip! Be sure to get signed up if you want to attend! Anyone who has just completed 8th grade can attend. The youth class travels all week and it's a lot of fun! Check back for info about the trip to Camp Windemere in August.

Camp Nowhere Pictures

Thanks to all of you who came to Camp Nowhere! It was another great event! Here are a couple pictures from the weekend.

Here's everyone lining up for the start of Capture the Tiki Torch! This game was definitely a hit! I think it was mostly fun to get to throw water balloons at people!

Here's everyone during the relay game! This game was fun but a little long!

Here's Josh on the slip 'n slide doing the Superman pose! The slip 'n slide was probably the biggest hit of the weekend. It definitely improved when we added the tarps!

This was the last game of the weekend....where everyone got soaked by their teammates! By the way, thanks to everyone on my team who dumped the entire trashcan on me! :) This game was really fun though!

Thanks again for coming you guys! Keep checking back for info on the upcoming float trip!

Crazy Kickball

Here are some pictures from kickball on Sunday night.

Josh as he walks from first base to.....where? Is that the direction you're supposed to run the bases in? It's the new and interesting Josh version!

Nate on a close catch!

The old man has to stretch before we start! We wouldn't want him breaking a hip or pulling something!

I just loved this picture of James....it just had the genuine Jamesness that always seems to make me laugh!!

Major Bummer

Hey Gang,

We talked on Sunday and Wednesday about going to the free Caleb Rowden concert tomorrow night. Unfortunately, the show is sold out and I was not able to get any tickets.

Because of that, we will not be meeting at the church at 5:30. Sorry, gang. Hopefully, we'll see you at the Hickman B-ball game tomorrow night!

Josh, the Youth Dude.

30 Hour Famine Reminder

Okay guys, this is just a reminder that the 30 Hour Famine is this weekend. It's going to be a blast! You can't eat after 6:00 AM on Friday and then we will break fast at noon on Saturday. Since you can't eat after six, then if you want to get up at five and eat something on Friday, that's just fine. We will meet at the church at 6:00 Friday evening to start the lock-in part. There will be lots of games, worship services and juice. We always have a great time at lock-ins and this one is no exception. Don't forget to keep hitting people up for money for the kids in Africa. Our goal is $3,600 which feeds 10 kids for one year! We have yet to reach that goal and we want to make this year the one! So raise all the money you can and we will need all the money collected a week or so after this weekend at the latest. Also, Saturday night is the all-church bowling night, so if anyone wants to come to that, you are welcome to! Check back for pictures from Sunday nights and info on Young Christian's Weekend at the end of March. Good luck to all of you who are participating in the famine!

Super Bowl Party

The Super Bowl party is this Sunday, February 4th. Meet at the church at 4:15 or at the Scott's house at 4:45. There will be literally TONS of food. Girls need to bring a snack (of any variety-sweet or salty) and guys need to bring a soda TO SHARE. We will head back to the church after the game. We will just call parents when the game is over. Come to root on the Indianapolis Colts or Da Bears. See you all there!

30 Hour Famine

The all-famous 30 Hour Famine is coming up Friday, February 23rd through Saturday the 24th. No eating is allowed after 6:00 AM on Friday and eating resumes at noon on Saturday. We will meet at church at 6:00 PM for the lock-in part. There will be lots of fun games and sorry, but no food, but there will be lots of juice. I know everyone is thinking why in the world would you want to stop eating for 30 hours? In all seriousness, this is a great experience. It is totally worth the hunger to raise money for those little kids that really need the food. There will also be a worship service and videos to watch of the kids we are feeding. Get a packet from one of the leaders soon so you can start raising money. Our goal for the last two years has been $3600 which is feeding ten kids for a year. We have yet to reach that amount, and we are hoping that this year is the year. Really guys, this is a great opportunity, and if I can do it, anyone can! See everyone at youth!

Road Trip... LATER!

Well, winter weather has struck again! We will NOT be doing anything youth-related tomorrow (Saturday, January 13th). With all of the ice on the road we will have to postpone the road trip. Check back on the blog and we will try to reschedule our trip to Kansas City. So, stay inside, home, safe, and warm this weekend, and we will let you know when new plans are made!

ROAD TRIP!!!!

Well, it's time for the annual road trip! We're mixing things up a bit and going to Crown Center in Kansas City. It's January 13th. We will be loading onto the bus and leaving from the church at 7:00 AM (I know it's kind of early, but we want to do as much as we can!). We will stop somewhere to eat breakfast on the way. We should be back somewhere between 10:00 and 11:00 PM, but we will call parents as we approach church. Some things at Crown Center: Ice Skating ($6 to skate and another $2 to rent the skates), movie theaters, there's even a spa if you need some relaxation time!, plenty of restaurants to eat at, and lots of shops (some things you would never see anywhere else-like the Crayola store!). The website of the mall is www.crowncenter.com if you want to check out what's there! After we leave the mall, we will head to Pizza Street for dinner! Lots of you remember Pizza Street from the trips to school mission trips to KC, so come and join us! Hope you all can make it!

And a little side note, anyone who wants to go to lunch with Josh this Wednesday (the 10th) can meet at Gus' after the 5th hour final is over (12:30).

Here's a picture of the fountain at Crown Center!

And this is the ice skating rink! Hope to see you all there!

Christmas Party

Tuesday night was the youth Christmas party at the Scott's house. I think we all had a great time! There were some great games and awesome food. There were also some great, creative gifts!

This is the Christmas Carol gurgling game. It was quite an entertaining game; not just to participate in, but also to watch everyone else.

Here's Nate and Greg checking out the treadmill.

Here are the guys playing some foosball, one of the many attractions at the Scott's house. Thanks to everyone that came! It's always a big hit every year. Don't forget to comment with ideas for the January road trip. We need lots of good ideas so we can decide where we want to go! Thanks for checking back! A January events posting will come soon. Don't forget the New Year's Eve bash coming up!

Kansas City School Trip

Thanks to everyone that went on the trip to Kansas City! We had an awesome time and it is always a great opportunity to help others in need. There were lots of youth this year and we even got to have the bus to ourselves! Thanks to you all and those of you who did not go, you definitely missed out!

Here's the pile of stuff we brought with us! There were lots of coats for these kids that really needed them. Thanks to everyone who donated something!

Some of the parents brought a pinata for the kids to whack! I have never heard so much screaming from those kids. And it ultimately led to a dog pile of elementary school kids, as seen in the picture below.

Here's a shot of the whole group! One of the largest so far and definitely the largest number of youth that have gone! Thanks again for everyone's help!

Bring a Rake or a Shovel... LATER

Ok, well, we have been on the phone all morning getting road updates, and it looks like it is not going to be safe for us to be out and driving all afternoon. We will see what the roads are like tomorrow, and may go out after church and shovel some sidewalks and driveways. We know there is definitely a need, but we have to stay safe. If you make it to church tomorrow, bring a shovel just in case.

~Josh & Liz
